We use RTM in my office to track and assign tasks for web programmers. I manually number each task so that we can refer to it by number in emails and on timesheets -- it's much more efficient than having to use the task name all the time.

It would be terrific if it were possible to have a new task automatically numbered when it's created.

Icing on the cake would be the ability to customize the numbering system with prefixes and suffixes, as the user desires.
