According to the help documentation, all tasks can be exported/backed up by using the All Lists .ics feed. However, once they have been backed up in that way, it doesn't appear there's any way to re-import the .ics file into RTM (say, if you accidentally mess up your task list). You can't really say you provide a backup option if there's no way to restore from the backup.
