Can't create task with URL via email

limamedeiros says:
I'm trying to create a task with a URL through email (using Google Inbox web app) but the URL keeps getting added as a note. This is the url: https://inbox.google.com/u/0/search/from:(email@email.com)%20is:snoozed. The strange thing is that I have a Zapier recipe that sends an email to RTM with a similar URL and it works. :(

Hi limamedeiros,
You may want to make sure you have the URL added in the subject or with the URL: signifier as demonstrated on our email page.

If that doesn't help, can you let us know what the full email message says, either in a reply or by contacting us? Thanks!

I reported the same issue some time back.

If I send an email with only the url, as below;
"URL: http://www.bbc.co.uk/"
this works ok and the url is put into the url field of the task.

However if I send the same url but with some text following it like this;
"URL: http://www.bbc.co.uk/

with some text"
Then both the url and the text end up in the Notes field of the task and the url field is blank.

Hi martingchapman,
I recall our discussion on this before, but we've been unable to reproduce it. Are you able to contact us with an example of a message that doesn't work? We're wondering if there's some specific detail we're overlooking that is causing this, and we'd love to investigate more specifically, thanks!

andrewski;
If I send a new email to my inbox address with the following text in the body of the email;

"URL: http://www.bbc.co.uk/

with some text"

(this is URL: followed by the actual url, then a line feed/carriage return then the text as shown (but this could say anything), but without the start and end quotes of course. There is no signature or any other text in the email)

The result is that both the url and the text are put into the notes field of the task.
Nothing is put into the URL field.

The title of the email does not matter but for completeness it is;
"test two", or "test three" or "test four" etc (you get the idea).

The address of the email is my RTM inbox address,

I can send you a screen shot of the actual email and subsequent task if that would help.

Hi martingchapman,
Yes, a screenshot of an example would help; it might indicate something that could help us track this down. Thanks again for the details!

RTM support have resolved the problem for me.
It was my mistake.

When creating a task from an email that contains a url, the url needs to be the first line of the message and there needs to be three hyphens "---" between the url and any subsequent text.

If you do this the url should be added into the url field of the task and the subsequent text should be added into the notes field of the task.

If you don't separate the url and the text with the "---" then it all gets added into the notes field.
This is explained in the RTM Help email page, but I had missed it.

Thanks to RTM support for their help in solving this for me.

Hi andrewski,
Sorry for the late reply! Here's the body of the email I'm trying to send:

Start: today
URL: https://inbox.google.com/u/0/search/from:(fatura@fatura.submarino.com.br)%20is:snoozed

-end-

Everything gets added as a note. It doesn't even recognize the keyword Start. :(

Hi limamedeiros,
Hm, I wonder if something else is happening there; I'm not seeing that in my own testing or by copying your message content.

Would it be possible to contact us so we could discuss some more specifics, possibly get a screenshot, etc.? Thanks!
