MilkSync for BlackBerry (the second app to be based on the MilkSync platform) is now available. :)

Nice. Now I can get the benefits of RTM without the misery of trying to manage tasks in Outlook. And the added benefit of having everything on my handy dandy Blackberry.

Awesome! My Pro membership is on the way!

turadg says:
Wonderful. I'll be signing up for Pro.
I've only used it a few minutes yet, but it seems to do the job.
One minor bug: the control to assign categories shows Smart Lists even though these can't be assigned to.

Is a Palm version of MilkSync being worked on, or even seriously considered?

turadg says:
WARNING: do not enable Content Protection on your Blackberry. I did and it overwrote almost all my tasks.

emily (Remember The Milk) says:
The content protection issue was fixed as of version 1.0.4 (sorry that it affected you, turadg -- we're getting your tasks restored). We've now rolled out a fix so that folks on 1.0.3 or earlier won't be affected by this issue, but I would still recommend updating to the latest version of MilkSync for BlackBerry by going to www.rmilk.com/milksync
(Full explanation of the issue is over here.)
Hope this helps!

This seems very close to the almost perfect system but its just (barely) falling short.
Can someone explain to me why the sync is based on RTM list --> BB category and not RTM Tag --> BB category.
Currently since i use smart lists, none of that gets ported over.
Is there anyway to view smart lists on the blackberry?

kerryrosenhagen says:
I use smart lists extensively, so syncing with the BB task app is not very useful. Would love to see a full-fledged BB app similar to the iPhone one. In the meantime I'm stuck with the mobile web interface...

ericyber says:
Please add Tags instead of lists to the Milksync features.

mrdknight says:
I second (or I guess third or fourth) the above. Downloaded milksync for BB to try it out, but it is completely useless for me without some way to take advantage of tags/smartlists. The entire power of RTM is in the tagging and smartlist functionality - without this functionality the tasks on my blackberry are a big dumblist. Until this is addressed, I don't expect to be signing up for Pro.
Ideal would be to have tags carry over onto the BB so that they could be actively filtered against on the BB, but I understand there are probably challenges implementing that. Instead, here is a stopgap proposal that doesn't seem like it would be that difficult.
To the current options of (a) sync all tasks or (b) sync only selected lists (which cannot include smartlists), add a third option (c) sync a single smartlist. Syncing only one list would get around the problem that I imagine occurs with allowing smartlists to be synced, that the tasks appear on multiple lists. But it would also allow us to set up a single smartlist based on whatever search criteria we want for syncing to the blackberry (tags, due dates, etc.) rather than just lists. We still wouldn't have full functionality on the BB (not able to sort by tags) but at least would be able to limit which tasks are synced.
Even better would be if it was possible to change which smartlist to sync (from the settings-list) then we could even have a few different smartlists with different search criteria for different uses. A "day-to-day sync" smartlist could include only those items I'm likely to want to reference on short notice away from my computer (phone calls, errands, etc.), but I might have a different sync list while taking a vacation (vacation related tasks plus only those work tasks with a current due date). Before leaving, I could just change the selected sync list and hit re-sync on the BB (to clear out the tasks not to be synced any longer) and I'm good to go.

I fifth the above comments. I do all my data entry on my Blackberry, I foolishly thought that assigning multiple categories on the Blackberry would sync to tags on RTM. Now I'm sad because all my @Computer @home tasks are jumbled up with my @Computer @work tasks in one @computer list.

arunram says:
I would like to see a seperate RTM nt for the Blackberry like the one for the iphone. The task synchronisation with the Blackberry app is nice but the BB client isnt just good enough to unleash the power of RTM on the BB.
Having been an Agendus (from Iambic) and Todo plus user on the Palm platform earlier, the BB task app is rather pedestrian.
I would like to see a BB native client from RTM folks. Thats would surely make many of us pro users on the BB.
Please consider this suggestion and request.
Thanks

I'd like to even say the "task sync is nice" but I can't muster that. My company has standardized on the BlackBerry platform and, as such, I'm forced to use one.
I'm in my second year of using RtM.
Just filed a support ticket: I can't move a task between lists on the BlackBerry and have it show up in RtM via MilkSync. I thought, at least briefly, of doing away with all of my well-defined tags and lists and smart lists in favor of using just static lists and due dates. But MilkSync does not handle moving an item from one list (say "Inbox") to another list (say "@computer").
This makes MilkSync roughly worthless. The Twitter interface is more useful.

@psk, the same to me. Hope we can get Tag synced.

I tried out MilkSync for the demo period and was very underwhelmed. The BlackBerry's tasks program as very minimal. Any chance of getting an app similar to what's on the iPhone?

mikelcal says:
I'm pretty bummed too. The main reason I haven't been using Milk Sync as much in the year I've been Pro, is because i feel the BB app is lacking. I do like that its integrated with the native tasks app for BB, but Milk Sync has not been updated in well over a year. Are you listening to us BlackBerry users? We want and expect more, especially if we are showing our support paying for a Pro account. We deserve as much if not more than that an iPhone user is getting for the same Pro account. I'm just saying. :(

dylanmspencer says:
I've been a pro user for 30 minutes and I'm already disappointed. Please enable support for smart lists and tags. It's really what makes this useful and would make life so much easier.

martin.marshall says:
I don't understand why Smart Lists are not included as categories in the Blackberry Tasks.
I can understand that BB does not support "tags", but it does support multiple categories, which is where normal lists sync. So why not just sync Smart Lists as another category?

I also posted this in the BB RTM thread, but this one might be better..
I'd like to voice an opinion on the priority mappings for MilkSync
!1 --> BB's high priority.
!2 --> BB's normal priority.
!3 --> BB's low priority.
!none -> BB's normal priority? <--- this is counter intuitive because it makes all "no priority" tasks float above the priority '3" tasks on the BB tasks list. Could ya fix it?
Please let me know what you think.

I upgraded to the ro version in order to have milksync. However, I'd prefer a native, RTM-only application and would happily throw away the RIM task management app, which is terrible.
