My answer: neither. Both formats suck, because you can't tell which is which.
I'd love to see the date format yyyy-mm-dd. It's unambiguous, easily sortable, short, and very common.
To that end, it would also be handy to have "Feb 14" (or "Feb 14, 2007" if it's in the past or >1 yr from now), and possibly a couple other options Really though, mm/dd/yy and dd/mm/yy are the two worst date formats possible, and right now they're the only options.
