Let's say you want to add a task with a URL, a due date and a note. So you enter the task title, the URL and the due date all at once in Smart Add and press "Enter". But in order to add the note, you need to click on the task (it isn't selected automatically) and then go to "Notes".

So half a solution would be to have the task remain selected after adding. Even better, when the user starts typing in "Smart Add", you could have "Notes" for this task displayed immediately.
