Fly tasks

welmoed95 says:
(please remind I'm french, so I'm not English fluent)
I'm a flylady, and I need to plan different kind of tasks : routine (every day), by zone (one zone by week)... I have created as many list as needed, and add tags for ex on routine to know if morning routine, back home routine or before sleeping routine. RTM reminds me every day or every week what to do, flying is easier !

Every flylady or flybaby can do it, its simple and quick. With Google sync, you can print or send to your mobile your tasks and RV in a click.

With RTM, you can fly !

In English, Fly Lady means a beautiful and popular woman. Your website let me down.

I feel you on the daily reminders though. They help me stay on hustle. Merci.

Hi! I use flylady too! what kinds of lists did you set up? I was using google tasks but hated that you can't duplicate. I love RTM because I have one place for shopping lists and all too.

I'd love to hear more about how you use flylady with RTM, i'm trying to get it all out of google tasks!

hi bonnie ! my lists are in french, of course ; but what I have done is :

* routine (to do every day) with tags 'morning', 'back to home' and 'evening'
* weekly (f.e. cleaning fridge)
* monthly (f.e. cleaning car)
* other (something to do less than monthly, f.e. cleaning carpets)
* to do : appointments, official papers to send or so

I haven't to crowd my mind with the things I have to do, RTM does it for me !

Athyder : not sure of what you mean, when you say the website let me down ! are you a man ? single ? living in chaos ? loool

Glad to see other FLYladies out here. I just found RTM last night. Awesome so far. I did one list for "Routine" things. Not sure how that will work, but I love the idea I don't have to remember what to do.

good to see other flybabies!
I just started using RTM. I do not include my routines (yet) but I did put the other things that I do each week etc in a list.

I know that you can put a task on repeat, to repeat after 1 week or whatever. I am still trying to figure out if I can make RTM repeat a task but only once I completed another task. So for example to only put 'iron clothes' after I completed washing them.

I am so happy to see FLYbabies on here! I think RTM is a good addition to the contol journal because you can get mired in perfectionism when creating it. (I also use evernote for body clutter food journal)

@Oxidaisy, a suggestion for you For something that has multiple steps I put the steps as a note. For example: the task is the weekly home blessing. And under the note I have:
set timer for 10 minutes/each
Vacuum
Dust
Mop
Polish Mirrors and Doors
Purge magazines
Change Sheets
Empty all trash
This way I'm not restricted by specific time to change the sheets, and when I'm done I can mark complete.

This time, I have learned something about RTM and Fly : for zone work, it's hard to plan since you have to work from 1st of the month till first sunday, then first full week and so on.

So (since we are so perfectionnist...), I have made a list by zone, and I print it when it's the week I have to do. I can tag them when done, so I can SEE what I still have to do (I have a visual remembering !).

I'm so SAD this topic has not won since we are SO MANY to fly, and RTM had been done for US !!

@jackiegirl82 : note are not printable, aren't they ? I'm still on paper sheet, my computer is a waste of time if always on, and it's dangerous for my flying tasks lol

@welmoed95 I use RTM on mobile web site, twitter and email through my blackberry. So when I need the notes I open them on the phone. Plus I have a timer on the phone. Haven't justified a pro account to myself yet to use blackberry sync. Also, I like your idea of printing out and tagging... I read something about copying a list and renaming it instead of marking everything as complete and then incomplete. Maybe something like that could work as well.

Unless I have the zone schedule wrong (could be - I haven't been *flying* very long), this is what I have done. Note: all of my tasks have a tag of "flylady" so I can filter for them easily.

Since I have a full-time job outside the home, I don't worry about the morning/evening routines, but you could put those in with due "times".

I have weekly repeating tasks for the daily flight plans. For example, each Monday is "Weekly Home Blessing Hour". I included the URL (http://www.flylady.net/pages/df_monday.asp) and pasted the description from her website into the notes.

I have monthly repeating tasks for the focus of the month. Example: Jan was "Shine your sink!", Feb was "Declutter for 15 Min a Day", etc.

Then, for each of the Zone focuses, I made them monthly repeating tasks - for one day only, not the whole week. So I might have "Zone 3 - The Main Bedroom, Home Office - Mission #1" and then I copied the description for that day into notes: "Today's mission is to look up high and get the cobwebs off the ceilings and clean the fan vent grill......". The next day would be zone 3 mission #2... next week would be Zone 4 missions 1-5, etc.

I haven't gone through a complete month yet with the zones, so I hope they work, but I like this strategy.

Great ! since I have had some event in my life including losing my job, finding a new one, following my daughter (studen of 17 living in another town) etc I have stopped my flying tasks, but now I try to take it in hand again, and the first thing I have done is to throw an eye to RTM. What a pleasure to see all tasks are waiting for me ! it's easier, just to pull up my sleeves and GO ON !!

@jackiegirl82 : I have an old mobile, but the next one will be compatible with RTM. Thanks for your idea !

I just started using RTM as my Flylady journal, too. I have set up all my smartlists and zones, similar to how bfootnovellista did it above. And am beginning to fill in my daily/weekly/monthly tasks. I love the combo of smartlists and tags! I've even created a smartlist called "Today's Quickies", which gives me anything I could do today that takes less than 5 minutes. It's that jump start you need when you feel overwhelmed. Just do one thing on that list and you feel like you accomplished something!

Silly questions - do you have a due date and time for everything? Or only some things? I'm debating on whether things in my zoned-detailed cleaning lists need due dates? Or should they just live under the Zone/Detailed lists so I can see them when I filter?

Also, Do you check things off (mark as complete in RTM?) as you do them, or do you just use the lists to see what you have to do?
