Backup - how to?

Hi,
I read a post where Emily said "You can export your lists in iCalendar format"
How do you do that? I see how to synchronize with iCal - is that the backup? And, just to be clear, I was hoping to have a *file* on my desktop that I could cue up into my backup software. Is there a way to do that?
Thanks!

ical "syncs" by downloading the ical file and parsing it.
you can download the file yourself to your Desktop and in that way have a backup.

pardon the dumb question - i'm new to iCal. How, exactly, do you download the file? Is that from the website somewhere? Or from iCal?

emily (Remember The Milk) says:
You can save a copy of your iCalendar file at:
https://www.rememberthemilk.com/icalendar/username/
Or, you can save a copy from within iCal by selecting the Remember The Milk iCalendar feed under 'Calendars', going to the File menu, and choosing 'Export'.
You can also backup your entire iCal database by going to File, then 'Back up Database...'.
Hope this helps!
