Start Date Logic for Repeating Tasks?

bugsie says:
Hi,
Please can someone explain the logic for setting the Start Date on a repeating task. Is it always the same number of days ahead of the due date? Or is it smarter than that, for example, determining when the Start Date is the 1st of the month and the Due Date the last day of the month?
Thanks

Hi there,
The smarter logic comes with the repeat, where you can specify "first day", "last day", etc.

The start date will be set as an offset of the due date, so in your example it would always be the same number of days before.

Hope this helps!

Thank you. Helps to know what I'm working with. I don't think this is mentioned in the Help section.
Thanks again.

Be aware;
If you set the Start Date as the first day of a 31 day month and the Due Date the last day of the same 31 day month and repeat every month, when it gets to a 28 - 30 day month the start date will no longer be the first day of that month, it will be 31 days before the due date (last day of the month) so will be at the end of the previous month.
Similarly;
If you set the Start Date as the first day of a 30 day month and the Due Date the last day of the same 30 day month and repeat every month, when it gets to a 31 day month the start date will no longer be the first day of that month, it will be 30 days before the due date (last day of the month) so will be the 2nd day of that month.
This is not a problem if the task repeats every year, unless it is set up for February when it will be wrong every four years.
