Does the fact that the Remember the Milk Calendar show up as -8:00 GMT (with no option to change it) cause SMSs from Google not to show up at the correct time? I can't remember, but I think they did show up at an odd time and I turned them off. I was trying again, but found this time setting.

I think I answered my own question. As far as I can tell given that an SMS came through at 4:50pm my time, this is an indication that the time zone setting doesn't matter, but that the RTM tasks in GCal are considered an all day event.
I can't get the iCal feed to work, so I guess I'll have to forego SMS reminders (the RTM ones aren't supported where I am).
