Adding a File path / Link to a task

I want to add a file link (similar to a URL) so I can reference the task to a specific document(s). Outside of the Notes section, has anyone found a good method to accomplishing this?

It would be ideal to be able to launch the doc using a hyperlink directly from the browser, but I may be asking for to much.

If you use Firefox, there's an extension that renders clickable various URLs that appear even if they aren't innately clickable - that could help.
