Changes to due dates for repeating tasks not being applied to future tasks

I have a list called 'Bills'.

In that list I have the item "Pay cable bill", which is due on the 20th of this and set to repeat every month. I can already see "Pay cable bill" on the list for next month as due on the 20th.

When I change the due date of this months bill to the 25th, the item for next month shows that it is still due on the 20th - it didn't update to say the 25th.

What am i doing wrong?
