What does the ">" before a task mean?

It's been fun trying to develop some kind of a theory of causation, but I'm really stumped.

Everything else in the interface has nicely intuitive.

(searching in help for greater than, chevron, etc. yielded nothing)

Seems like something easy to add to the Help/FAQ section.
Preferably in the very first topic (keyboard shortcuts)...
