Adding tasks within google calendar

I have the RTM gadget installed for Google Calendar, so my RTM tasks are listed within my Google Calendar each day: "Tasks for [Monday, etc.]" When I'm at work, I've been adding tasks from within google using my laptop. Tasks I've added have mysteriously disappeared and are not showing up in google calendar searches. Where are they? What is the best way to add tasks on a desktop? Using my iphone for each is too time consuming.

I have always found the quickest way to be emailing in to the inbox address. If you set up a mailto: icon on your desktop or dock, it's just one click to summon the email, then type, then send and done. Easy on the iPhone, too.
