MilkSync for BB and BES servers

(closed account) says:
I was just wondering if it was still possible to use MilkSync for Blackberry if you were currently tied to a BES server. I have push email and my Outlook Calendar, Tasks, and Notes are currently synced OTA with the BES server.

If I loaded MilkSync on my Blackberry, any idea how that would impact my current setup? n Would it work, or would it cause a problem for the current sync?

If you don't like/use/need the tasks in Outlook, then just turn off OTA synce for the Tasks portion, and rely on RTM exclusively, and then I'd think you'd be fine. Not sure what happens when you two kinds of syncing interact.

The tasks are just synced to and from Outlook as well. It all becomes one big pot. That's what I do and it works great.

I am not sure that I can turn off OTA sync for tasks (I am sure the BES manager at work can, but I am not sure they will turn on and off individual services).

If they all just "blend" together, maybe I will try that. I don't mind having them synced with outlook and RTM, just don't want alot of dups appearing all of the time.

Thanks again. I will try it out.

Not sure which BB you have, or what rev of the OS, but in Tasks, if you bring up the menu and go to options, do you see an entry for Wireless Sync: (On mine it's the 4th of 5 entries on this screen).

I'm not saying you need to stifle this, but if you have access to it, that's where to find it, I think.

Well thank you everyone. I installed the trial of MilkSync and it seems to be performing syncs along with BES so that my tasks appear in the Blackberry, in Outlook, and in RTM. It looks great.

One firewall question. The sync has been working great for the past three days. Just this morning I received an error message saying that MilkSync tried to access a file behind the firewall and that was not allowed by my IT department. However, it has been sync-ing fine for a few days now, and still appears to be working normally. Since it does appear to work, does anyone have An idea about what function is being denied by my IT from MilkSync?

Hi william.benfanti,

If you haven't done so already, would it be possible to submit a MilkSync for BlackBerry issue report via our support system?

Your report will give us the information that we need to investigate this issue (it's difficult for us to diagnose problems with MilkSync via the forums, sorry).

Thanks!
