Recurring events only exist in their current instance. Until they are clicked off and regenerated, the future instances do not exist. The simplest way around this is, for example, to have multiple tasks. E.g., for a daily event, you'd have seven events that said "Chase wombat out of tree" and one would be timed for Sunday, the next Monday, and so on. The when you generate your weekly planner, they will all look fine.
