tasks "vanishing" from smartlists

I'm wondering if there is any way around this. I have smartlists and I think it's great to be able to add something to a tag-based smartlist and have it automatically tagged with those tags. But I also have a smartlist that just gives me all tasks with a due date. When I add a task to this list, it immediately "vanishes." This is of course because when first adding a task, it doesn't have any attributes other than a name, then you have to go edit it to add tags, due dates, etc. Since it doesn't have a due date to start, it's not found in the smartlist for tasks due. I then have to go look for it in my inbox (my default list) or my untagged smartlist so that I can then assign a due date.
Any way around this?
Any way around this?

Sorry, there isn't any way around this -- the Smart List is updated automatically so unfortunately it can't show tasks that don't meet its criteria.

One potential way to address this would be to enable the parsing of the task name for due date information, a suggestion that has cropped up repeatedly over the last two years.
Thus, if this were enabled, you could just type "wire bob t. monkey $1mm due every first day of month" and RTM would be smart enough to make that a repeating task due the first day of every month.
I can dream, right?

Ah, yeah, that would solve it.
Actually, that would be a nice feature in and of itself. I'm wondering if the programming back end is already there since we can do essentially the same thing now with the jott interface. If RTM is able to parse out the text that Jott sends it, it should be able to do the exact same thing if you typed it into the task field. Is that right Emily?
