Smart Lists - specifying search criteria

brownstudy says:
I start my phone tasks with "call".

My smart list says to capture all tasks with "call" in the task.

But this also picks up a task with the word "mccall", which I do NOT want.

In "Has the words" field, I've tried using quotation marks (ie, "call") but "mccall" is still captured.

The only workaround I know of is to put in the "Doesn't have" field: "mccall."

But that's a kludge; I want the smart list to capture all tasks that contain the whole word "call", but not capture words that contain the work "call".

Hi brownstudy,
Thanks for getting in touch.

It's not possible to search exact names/words, only to include partial names like this.

The best thing in this example would be to exclude any strings you need to, for example:

name:call AND NOT name:mccall AND NOT name:callsign AND NOT etc.

I hope this helps! 💙

Thank you for the quick reply. I'll continue adding excluded words to the "Doesn't have" field. To be honest, there are not that many words where this is a problem, mostly names.

Another possibility is to search for tasks where the word "call" is included in a longer name, i.e. there's a space before or after it:

name:" call" OR name:"call "

Just another idea in case that's easier!
