What good does submitting a report do?

(closed account) says:
I submitted a report six days ago and have never heard anything back except for an automated response. There have been no changes to the status update page. I sent a follow up email to which no one responds.

This is a great free service when it works. I hate sounding ungrateful, but I can't logically continue torturing myself with hit and miss service.

Submitting a report alerts us of any unsupported versions or other problems; we can at least add it to our list to investigate, at most show you how to solve any problems, and often some degree in between.

Either way, we don't immediately post an unsupported Gmail version on our status page, but the reports are still helpful.

We answer all messages as quickly as we can, and I should reply to your message later today.

Hope this helps to clarify!
