RTM for Google Apps Causes Email to Repeatedly Shrink

Having a problem with the gmail add-on.
When I was log into my Google Apps email account, the RTM sidebar appears on the right, but my list of emails on the left gradually reduce in width until they are so cramped they are unreadable.
This minimising of the email list happens in 4-5 increments, lasting a total of about 3 seconds. At the end I'm left with the RTM sidebar on the right, a crampted and unreadable list of emails on the left (with some overlapping text) and a large amount of white space in the middle. Even when I click on 'settings' all the text in the settings options are crampted to an unreadable width.
I'm using Firefox 3.6.8, Windows 7, 1920x1080 resolution.
Anyone have any ideas?
