Measuring Total Estimated Time for Today's Tasks

Hi again
I am blind and using a screen reader so apologies if I am missing something obvious, but is there a way for RTM to tell you the total amount of hours you have estimated for your tasks if you select the "Due Today" link? I often feel overwhelmed by the number of tasks I have and so would like to be able to easily measure them in terms of the total hours they should take. Any tips? Thanks in advance.

Hi Catherine,
The total time estimated is not available on the Overview, however it's available in the Tasks view when you are viewing a list. (It will say "X hours estimated.")
Hope this helps!

Thanks Andrewski for replying. Am I correct in understanding that the time estimates are available for lists that we've created, but what about the standard ones like "Today" and Tomorrow" etc? Am I misssing it somehow or am I right in understanding that these lists don't include time estimates?
Thanks
Catherine
Thanks

Hi Catherine,
That's correct; the time estimates aren't available on the Overview screen. You can create Smart Lists for those same views though, that would then be available in your Tasks view.
Hope this helps!

I don't know if you resolved this issue but I think the only way to do what you are trying to do is to edit your smart list in the settings section. This is the list that is titled "All Tasks" by default. Then you can set up a criteria that the tasks contain a keyword such as "today". Unfortunately, to make this work, you will need to include the word "Today" in the title of the tasks you will work on for the day. Then go to the tab for the smart list you've created and it will tell you the estimated time to complete all of those tasks.
If you'd rather not mess with the smart list stuff, then just separate the tasks you want to total up onto a different list and it will total your tasks up that way.

Note: if you have a task that repeats, you will run into problems, because it will not take it away from the estimated time total after you complete it. Pretty annoying.

michaelkbrewer,
If you want to see the total time estimated for tasks that are due today, you could set up a Smart List that searches for due:today, which would avoid the keyword step.
Regarding completed tasks, the total time estimated will only show for incomplete tasks; if you're seeing anything different, please let us know.
