Put tasks on hold

Does anyone have a system to put tasks on hold.
Some times you have planned a task but it is put on hold, because of some reason.
What strategy would you use for this in RTM?

Create a tag called 'on-hold'. Then for all your smart lists, exclude any tasks that have this tag.
Just a thought.

Or you can create a list Later/Sometimes. I'm not a fan of loads of regular lists, but this one I like. I presently have five lists:
1 Inbox (most tasks reside here, all must have meta data set)
2 Deferred (waiting for)
3 Later/sometimes (some day I'll get to these ;-)
4 Projects (project titles only to make sure all projects show up in the tag cloud)
5 ¤ (system tasks)

Neither am I, but I have them! :)
I have a list called "Someday" which includes both delayed task and tasks/projects I plan to do someday. Stole that from "Things", and I believe it's a GTD concept.
