Daily List - Alternative to Sleepers and Using Priorities
sowens says:
One method I've seen to define "today" smart lists is to define it with a search of "dueBefore:tomorrow OR NOT priority:none" and give priorities to tasks you would like to complete ASAP and want to show up on your "today" list every day until they are done. This doesn't work for me because I have some priorities on repeating monthly, etc. tasks, that I don't want to show up every day. I also have tasks that I don't want to give a priority, but I also want to show every day.
My solution to this is to have a tag "do" that I include in my search for my "today" smart list. I also like to include tasks due the next day as well, because I tend to like to get my tasks done a day early, so I'm not running up against deadlines (I tend to have things due in the middle of the day). That makes my "today" list smart search:
dueWithin:"2 days of today" OR tag:do

I meant to add in that I saw in the thread that discussed the method of using priorities, someone suggested to use the sleeper tags to get around the priority issue. I don't like doing that, because I don't always give my ASAP tags a due date.

I also just updated my search so it would include overdue items:
status:incomplete AND dueWithin:"2 days of today" OR dueBefore:today OR tag:do
