Things I Can Do While I'm Out
Thought my tip might help somebody! Here goes...
I find that I usually have a few to-do items that I need to get done while I'm out driving. I tag items that need to get done while I'm out with a #car tag.
I created a Smart List called "Car" that contains the search terms:
tag:car dueWithin:"1 week of today"
That way, if I'm out and about, I have a handy list of items I need to get done while away from home. It can be a nice memory jog. I'm sure this would work for someone who commutes without a car as well.
What do you think?

You could also do the same by tagging the tasks with a location if you were so inclined - e.g. Home, Work, etc.
You could then use a Smart List which has the locations you DON'T want - for example:
(NOT location:home AND NOT location:work) AND dueWithin:"1 week of today"
Both have their positives and negatives. A tag is more event-based (e.g. "I'm going out") whereas a location is more, well, location based. ;-)
Also, you'd have to tag all your tasks with a location (if suitable), or you'll get "stray" items in the Smart List. More work, but more accurate results usually have that price anyway...
So I'm not implying your solution is wrong - if it works for you, it's right!
I just wanted to point out that there's a field you could use for this anyway, if you use a negative (NOT) search modifier. So check out Locations, they might be what you want...
