Conditional tasks - Cycle tasks - done easily

dgmckenna says:
Hello,

I often have conditional tasks, where one task can only be done after another has finished. Some of these are recurring / repeating, for example:

If I want to have a cleaning task that shows up everyday. The cleaning items are:

1. Vaccuum
2. Clean kitchen
3. Clean bathrooms

Once I have done one of these items, the next time I clean I should work on the next one. If I postpone cleaning, I want to continue to work on that same item.

This can be accomplished by creating one task with all items listed in the description, and using a tag value that you increment to track what item you need to work on.

Example continued:

1-Vacuum 2-Clean kitchen 3-Clean Bedroom ^tomorrow *after 1 day #z1

The task will show up with z1 indicating I need to work on the first item listed in the task description. Before completing the task, I edit the tag to be z2. Even if you have other tags on it, the z tag will appear at the end of the tag list, so you just have to backspace once and enter the new number.

This allows you have things be conditional as well as not having many different tasks that can popup at once for essentially one item (my daily cleaning chore).
