Add tasks using external triggers (weather, stocks…)

closed_account says:
Hi there, I'm taking advantage of a new site called "if this then that" (http://ifttt.com/ It's closed beta but I have some invites) to add RTM tasks triggered by various external sources, like for instance:
- If "Tomorrow's forecast calls for Rain" send me an email with the subject "Bag the umbrella ^today @Home #Personal !3"
- If "Price drops below $340 for APPL" send me an email with the subject "Buy Apple stock ^today #Personal !2"
- If "New bookmark tagged @to-do" send me an email with the subject "Visit {{Title}} #Personal ^today {{Url}}"

This it how it looks like: http://cl.ly/3R1X1S0n2L240z46121l

I obviously pick up those emails (in GMail using filters) and route them to my RTM Import Email Address where they're added using Smart Add magic (http://www.rememberthemilk.com/services/email/#inbox). I expect they'll incorporate RTM as one of their official Channels in the near future, but for the time being I'm very satisfied with the results of this tip :)

Cheers!

I should've said: I'm not affiliated in any way to ifttt.com, I just find the RTM combo really useful.

This is freakin' AMAZING! Maybe the RTM team can partner with IFTTT? Thanks for the tip, looking forward to this getting out of closed beta.

Yup, I am using this too, the only difference is I trigger a Twitter event to send a DM to RTM. Now I think about it, I may hit a 140 character limit so I may change mine to use the e-mail method.

Thanks
