I do a big grocery shopping trip every 2 or 3 weeks, and it involves taking inventory beforehand - going through my cabinets, refridgerator and freezer to see what I'm low on.

I keep my grocery list items in Remember The Milk, tagged as "grocery". When I look at this list, it's in an order that has nothing to do with where I store them in the kitchen. So, to check what I have, I need to go all over the room, opening cabinets, the refrigerator, and freezer, multiple times, depending on what I'm checking.

I thought I needed another field, something like "HomeLocation", that I could sort by, to make checking what I was low on a little easier. Shame on me - I actually looked around on the Android marketplace for shopping list applications, downloaded a few and tried them out. But none of them worked well.

Finally I remembered tags! I use them all over in RTM, why not use them for this? So I created some tags:

Groc-Fridge
Groc-GarageFreezer
Groc-BigPantry
Groc-BakingPantry
Groc-HallCloset

I went through my grocery list items, and tagged them all with their location. Now, checking which groceries I need is a breeze. I just walk around with my android RTM application, open each grocery location tag, and only need to look in each location once!
