Getting your outlook mails in an automatic "waiting for" list and/or tag
jensb says:
I am using GTD, and 99% of my work are spawns of outlook mails - I am however annoyed with outlook tasks for GTD usage so I am now evaluating RTM as my system.
One of my key requirement is to get "waiting for" tasks from emails I send to people.
So, I created the following VB script - If you put it in a module and tune down your macro security - It can be used as follows:
Create a inbox rule that picks up any mails that you are CCd on and that is sent by you (standard point and click in outlook) - then as the action for that rule, set it to run a script and point to the attached script - Any mail you now CC yourself on will automatic end up with the specified tag and on the specified list in RTM!
If you have any problems with setting the rule up, drop a note and I'm sure me or someone outlook knowledgeable can help.
Text between "< >" should be replaced with your desired settings.
Public Sub CreateRTMWaitingMail(oMailItem As Outlook.MailItem)
Dim mm As Outlook.MailItem
Set mm = oMailItem.Forward
mm.Subject = oMailItem.Subject
mm.BodyFormat = olFormatPlain
mm.Body = "Tags: " & vbCrLf & "List: " & vbCrLf & "-end-" & vbCrLf
mm.To = "@rmilk.com"
mm.Send
End Sub
