How to stay on task while at a beer festival

tomgm says:
Last weekend I attended the Oregon Brewers Festival as I have every year since moving to the Portland area. Every year I have wound up missing out on tons of great beer because I forget what I wanted to try. This year I sought to change that using RTM.

I first created a list just for the festival. I then studied the OBF's website looking for the beers I wanted to try. Each beer I added as a task (which it obviously is!) and tagged it with the type of beer it is and the section of the festival it is in. I then created a note for each task and copied the description of the beer into the note.

This made my beer drinking far more efficient!* I could quickly see what beers I wanted to try were in the nearby trailers. When I wanted a porter I could see all the porters I was interested in. I could reread the descriptions of the beers. After trying a beer I could create a new note and write a short review so I could later hunt down the brewery or a store that sells it.

For the record in just a few hours I was able to sample 10 of the 18 beers I wanted to try. I also have a handful of reviews to sift through though to be honest some of the ones from later in the day are lacking in quality for some reason...

Also, my favorite of the festival was from Natian Brewery (a nano brewery in Portland, OR) that made a honey red ale to die for. Sooooo many great beers though!
