Before RTM my system involved a notepad file called ToDo.txt which I saved to my desktop. I could always quickly access it by a Ctrl-Alt-T hotkey combination. I would usually record the person to call back and their phone number which I contine to use because of the quick access.

Now that I use RTM, I keep three lines permanently at the top of the notepad file. It looks like this

Call #Work #.scott #@call ^today !1
Email #Work #.scott #@email ^today !1
Appointment #Work #.scott #@appointment ^Thursday 11:00

Jenny 867-5301
John 704-555-1212 cell
etc....


When I am in RTM, I will copy and paste one of the three top smartadd lines, then copy and paste the name and number so it looks like this

Call Jenny 867-5301 #Work #.scott #@call ^today !1

then hit enter and I am done.
