Bookmarking websites using Apple Mail
pdkres says:
When using Safari, you can quickly send the URL in Apple Mail by hitting Shift+Command+I. (That's the letter " I " as in me, myself and "I"). A new mail opens with the subject filled in, and the URL is automatically placed into the body of the mail. If you like, change the subject to whatever you want the task named, and jump down to the body and put a " U: " in front of the URL. I add the "tag:bkmk" on the next line, and "d:today" or other day if you want to get back to it on a specific date. You can also add a "repeat:" command as well. Feel free to add Notes too if you like with a brief description.
So let's say I want to read the RTM Blog every Friday. I would go to the Blog, hit Shift+Command+I, Enter my RTM email address (which I have in my Address Book, and fills in easily by hitting the letter "R") and add the following to the body of the email.
subJect: Remember The Milk Blog (Automatically filled in)
U:http://blog.rememberthemilk.com/
D:friday
R:every week
S:bkmk, readme
---
RTM: Best ToDo List in THE WORLD!!!
Then hit Send.
I have also made a Smart List for the "bkmk" tag called Bookmarks. These are now available on any computer, and I am easily reminded of websites I like to visit periodically without having them show up in a standard RSS reader. I try to keep all the entries as short as possible so I can enter them quickly on the fly.
I could also see this being useful for web pages or articles that you would like to "Read Later" by adding a tag like "tag:readme" or by just adding something simple like a due date to read it before it's old news. Other tags could also be added for references to a specific topic or interest that you would like to retrace sometime later.
