RTM in combination with a database
renegaat says:
I'm an editor of a magazine. The publication of this magazine is every two or three weeks. We send the magazines not by mail: there' s a group of volunteers to deliver them. For every edition I have two repeating tasks: four day before the deadline I have to writa an article. Two days after the deadline I have to make a deliverylist with addresses. I own a database with the dates we wil make a new edition of our magazine.
Here's the tip / trick: I made a small application with VB.NET to query the upcomming dates and the program loops through them. For each date it makes two e-mails. One of them with duedate = deadline-4 to remember me to write a new article and another one with duedate = deadline + 2 to remember me to update the delliverylist. With the VB.NET application I send the e-mails to my RTM e-mail account. I tag these e-mails with the name of our Magazine.
Since I started to use RTM for this task, I never forgot one of the magazine related tasks.
