Monthly Banking/Bills
(closed account) says:
One of my biggest uses for RTM is for banking and scheduling my monthly bills...specifically my recurring monthly bills.
I used to use Microsoft Money which alerted me to upcoming bills to pay. Since I moved over to a mac...that wasn't an easy option anymore.
Now I use my online banking directly. But my bank has no bill reminder feature...so in comes RememberTheMilk!
I set up all of my recurring bills in RTM in this format:
"BILL: PSE&G - $100" (or ~$100 if it's an estimated amount)
Due: September 1st
Recurs: Every Month
I do this for every bill I have: Mortgage, Loans, Credit Cards, Utilities, Insurance, etc.
I never miss a payment and I have a clear view of what was/wasn't paid for each month. After I pay a bill, I complete the task and a new task is automatically created for the next month's payment.
I even have a FLUID (http://www.http://fluidapp.com) app created on my desktop that opens my bank's bill payer page and RTM, side by side!
