Using RTM get to Inbox Zero

cj.chilvers says:
One of life's simplest pleasures is having an empty email inbox. Remember the Milk can help make that happen.

Whenever you find messages piling up, simply assign an action to each email (or each conversation), enter that action as a task in RTM and copy the contents of the email into the Notes section of the task.

Once you assign a date to the task, the email can be put out of your mind and moved out of your email inbox.

I do this in my Gmail: star my messages and tasks are automatically created (in my Inbox). Then I archive them all and my Gmail Inbox is empty.

Then I go to my RTM Inbox and process those tasks: tag them, set due dates, move them to the correct list. Works like a charm, and I end up with two empty Inboxes. (Twice as nice! ;)

@andrewski I assume you have a rule to send starred emails to RTM?

Derek, the Firefox extension has an option to do this, either for starred messages or ones matching a particular label. See Settings | Tasks for the options.
