Getting iCal events on multiple Apple devices
asmarshall says:
I don't know if this will be helpful to anyone, but I've spent quite a while figuring it out :)
We have a MBP, iPad 2, and two iPhone 4 phones (I was going to type iPhone 4s, but that would be confusing ;) ), all set up to use iCloud.
I want to use RTM for everything including appointments and work schedules, but my hubby only wants to check iCal. So, I subscribed to several of my RTM lists as Events in iCal on my MBP. I chose the location for the calendars from within iCal as iCloud and assumed they would update on the phones and iPad automatically.
What I found is that they would update on the MBP automatically, but only on the phones or iPad when I went to Settings (on the device), turned off calendars on iCloud and turned it back on (yes, decidedly weird).
I called Apple and got nowhere (they wanted me to use iCal to enter everything ;) ) so I played around some more.
This may be obvious to everyone but me, but all I had to do to keep everything in sync is to subscribe to the RTM lists through the RTM website on each device. As soon as I did that everything works great!!
I did have to change the location of the calendars on my MBP so they weren't in iCloud to avoid getting duplicates of the events I had already synced.
So, there it is ... not sure if anyone else will find it helpful, but I had googled this issue and not come up with much, so figured I would share.
