Tasks that I know I need to complete soon (in other words NOT on hold) but for which I have no specific date get the tag: ah. I have a "hidden" list with sleeping tasks using the z1d, z2d, z1w method as seen on this site. -bits is a tag I use for sub-tasks on occasion.
The above logic gives me everything overdue, due within a week or At Hand without those that are on hold or hiding until a specific day. Handy for planning the close future without getting too bogged down in the details.
