WinMilk, a Windows Phone 7 App for RTM

limitedmage says:
I've made an RTM app for Windows Phone 7 called WinMilk. You can view, complete and postpone your tasks, as well as view by list, smart list, tag and search.

You can read more about it here: http://julianapena.com/projects/winmilk/

WinMilk will be available in the WP7 App Marketplace soon.

Juliana - I did download and install your app on my WP7 phone (Samsung Focus) and when doing the initial link it takes me to the RTM login page. While logging in, I get an RTM page error saying it requires java to load sign in page. When clicking the app option "After loggin in and authorizing the app, tap the done button." I receive an error saying "Error 101 Invalid frob - did you authenticate?".

Any thoughts how I can install?

Thanks in advance, and I'd be glad to buy you a cup of coffee!

To follow up on my prior post, I was able to load the app. To correct, I went to my WP7 browser settings, and selected 'run desktop version' (vs. mobile version) and I was able to link WinMilk with RTM.

Congrats, this is a great app that will help me get great use out of my new phone!

I know the login process may be a little complicated. If you run into issues again, I just recommend you close and restart the app and retry logging in.
Thanks for using WinMilk. If you run into any more issue, let me know. :)

Wondering how possible it would be for WinMilk to be able to populate a Live Tile in WM7. Looking for the same thing I can see on the screen here in RTM:
Today - 1
Tomorrow - 0
Overdue -1 (maybe in Red)

I know this feature requires push notification but it seems like somewhere between WinMilk and RTM this could happen. I would be willing to pay a subscription for this feature (like Outlook sync). Already getting RTM texts every morning with tasks due, but there is nothing like having the info staring you in the face every time you turn your phone on.

Please say it is at least possible and you are working on it. I am getting Live Tile updates from WeatherBug, a third party app, every hour, so I know it can be done and I think the RTM infrastructure to do it is already in place. I know I am oversimplifying, but it would really make RTM and WinMilk extra special.

Thanks,

JIM

Hi Jim,

I am planning on adding Push notifications to WinMilk. I'm having a few issues making it work, and I'm still trying to see how it would work. I'll let you know when I have something ready. :)

Even without push notifications, it would be great to have a live tile. At least I can see at a glance what I have to do today. Please do that first - it's the way Win 7 mobile apps are supposed to work..

That said, great start.

To get it running, I had the same login/javascript issue, but then I just closed it, restarted it, and the authorization worked.

Live tiles *are* notifications. :( WP7 has a number of different types of notifications, including toasts and tiles.
This may have to wait until I get a phone, I'm having lots of problems debugging this in the emulator.

live tiles on this app would be great I would pay for the app with live tiles feature, it is a pain to keep opening the app to see my tasks

Juliana -
As directed I am checking out Remember the milk. In WINMILK I cannot seem to add notes, everything else seems to be in both apps.

This app is a great start! Thank you for implementing it. I'm hoping it will fill in the current gap in integration between Outook Tasks and WP7.

One comment/question. Are you planning to allow offline task management in the app? Would make it faster for one to manipulate their tasks in the phone (assuming the synchronization will happen automatically once the phone reconnects to a network i.e. wifi, 3g).

I don't have much to say here beyond what's already been said-- Julian -- you rock for making this, making it as polished as it already is so soon after WP7 RTM, for making it free and for engaging with your users. I'm enjoying the app tremedously and looking forward to where it goes (push notifications, live tiles, etc.)

Hi a73x.v,
This is probably due to a know issue with smart lists. Could you send me your smart list queries to winmilk@julianapena.com so I can follow up on this issue? Thanks!

Juliana,
Great work on developing WinMilk. You're a saviour for us folks who rely on using our Tasks in Outlook and having the same information on our previous smartphones. I send you seperate emails with a few issues I'm having, so looking forward to your response.

Your app has GREAT potential for widespread use, so keep working on it....

Hi Juliana, Thanks for WinMilk.

I noticed a bug - if you goto any list, select a task and press complete - It will take you back to the list but often, the list doesn't update so clicking on a task takes you to the wrong task (index off by one).

Hi Juliana,

I'd like to echo the thanks and comments of gratitude for making such a cool app, as polished as it is, so quickly!

I just tested apm's bug and validated it. Indexing looks off and tasks aren't complete when you check them off.

Nonetheless, thank again for all your hard work! I'm ready to pay once you work out the kinks :)

Great software! I'm very pleased to have discovered RTM as well as WinMilk. I'm also having the ArgumentOutOfRange error after first signing up. After reading the earlier post, I archived my smart list, and now everything is working. I hope you can fix the bug with smart lists soon since I'd really like to start using them. For what it's worth, here's the query I was trying to run "priority:1 or dueWithin:"1 week of today""

thanks,

Tim

On my Phone 7 WinMilk scolls very rough, hesitating and rushing and all. I am wondering if there is just too much data. I was wondering if there is a way to sync only a subset of the total lists. I have several that are more like "someday/maybe" that I really do not need on my phone. I wonder if it would be a quicker app if I could reduce the number of lists it syncs?

Hi
Just my new win phone and started using rtm after a couple of years away, great app. Any update on when the live tile integration might show up?

Hi Deadspeak, I'll probably update the app when Mango comes out with the new Live Tile APIs.

You have suddenly made RTM relevant to me again by making it so easily mobile. Thanks

Hi Limitedmage,

If you do get around to updating the app for Mango - please see if you can do something about the speed of opening, navigating for someone like me who has about 7 lists and a total of about 12 tasks. Thanks so much for making this app available. I hope you're well.

Same problem as mike.moore86, try to log in using WP7 browser to finish setup and unable to. Bought you a cup of coffee in the hopes that would help Mike and I get a fix!

Thanks, keep up the hard work, pc
