1. Which version of the BlackBerry operating system do I need?
You'll need version 4.2 or later of the BlackBerry operating system. If you'd like to see support for an earlier version, please let us know. Please be aware that if we were to offer MilkSync for earlier versions of the BlackBerry operating system, the functionality we could offer may be reduced (for instance, programatically setting tasks to repeat isn't possible on version 4.1 or earlier). If you have an earlier version and would like to use MilkSync for BlackBerry, you might wish to check whether your device can be upgraded to 4.2.
2. Does MilkSync support WiFi on the BlackBerry 8120 (Pearl), 8320 (Curve) or 8820?
Yes. MilkSync will attempt to sync over WiFi if a working WiFi connection is available.
3. Do I need a data plan with my mobile provider?
Yes, a data plan is required for over-the-air syncing. Please check with your mobile provider to determine applicable data charges.
4. I don't have a Pro account yet. Is a trial available?
Yes! You can try it free for 15 days without a Pro account (your trial begins the first time you synchronize with MilkSync). After the trial, you can upgrade to Pro to continue using MilkSync. Note: You should take advantage of the trial to make sure that MilkSync works with your device and connection, as Pro accounts are non-refundable.
1. How do I access my tasks on my BlackBerry?
MilkSync for BlackBerry syncs with the built-in Tasks application on your BlackBerry. You can find the Tasks application in Applications. When you sync with MilkSync, your tasks will appear in this application. Any changes that you make to your tasks using this application will be made in Remember The Milk once you sync with MilkSync.
2. How do I access MilkSync on my BlackBerry?
Select the MilkSync icon on the Applications screen to launch MilkSync for BlackBerry. Alternatively, if you have the Tasks application open on your BlackBerry, you'll find "MilkSync" available in the application menu. The synchronization process can be started any time by selecting the Sync Now menu item on the main MilkSync screen.
3. How often does MilkSync for BlackBerry sync with Remember The Milk?
By default, the application is set to Manual Sync. However, you can change to a scheduled sync by selecting the Options item on the main MilkSync screen. You can set MilkSync to automatically synchronize with RTM in the background (e.g., every 15 minutes or every hour).
4. How do I change the sync direction?
By default, the application is set synchronize both ways (i.e., changes you make to tasks on your BlackBerry will be made to your tasks in RTM, and vice versa). You can change the sync direction by selecting the Options item on the main MilkSync screen. Choose From BlackBerry to only send changes made on the BlackBerry to RTM, or From RTM to only send changes from RTM to the BlackBerry.
5. How do I know when a new version of MilkSync for BlackBerry is available?
A notification will display in the MilkSync for BlackBerry application to let you know when an update is available. To update, go to www.rmilk.com/milksync with the browser on your BlackBerry.
1. Which task properties will be synchronized when using MilkSync for BlackBerry?
The following task properties will synchronize between BlackBerry's built-in Tasks application and Remember The Milk, using MilkSync (i.e., any changes made to these properties will be reflected both on the device and in RTM): task name, status, priority, due date, recurrence, notes, and category (known as list name in RTM).
Please note: RTM only supports "Not Started" and "Completed" statuses, so if a task on the BlackBerry has a different status (e.g., "In Progress"), this status will not sync to RTM. Also, BlackBerry only has 3 priority levels, whereas RTM has 4 (so both priority "2" and "no priority" will show as "normal priority" in BlackBerry).
2. Which task properties will not be synchronized when using MilkSync for BlackBerry?
BlackBerry does not support the following task properties, so they will not appear on your device when syncing with RTM: tags, time estimate, location, URL, and sharing information. In addition, BlackBerry does not support filtering by Smart List.
3. Does MilkSync for BlackBerry support setting reminders on tasks when they're synchronized to the BlackBerry?
No. Unfortunately, setting task reminders programmatically isn't possible on the BlackBerry 4.2 operating system.
4. How are categories/lists handled by MilkSync for BlackBerry?
When you synchronize a task from the BlackBerry to Remember The Milk for the first time, if its category does not match an existing RTM list name and you have chosen to synchronize all lists, a new list in RTM will be created and the task will be added to that list.
If the task on the BlackBerry does not have a category, it will be added to your default list on RTM (or Inbox list if your default is a Smart List) when it is synchronized to RTM for the first time. You can move a task to a different list by changing its category on the BlackBerry.
Please note: A task on the BlackBerry can be in multiple categories, but a task in RTM can only be in one list. For this reason, if your task is in more than one category on the BlackBerry, the first category will be used when RTM determines which list to include the task in.
5. How are notes for tasks handled by MilkSync for BlackBerry?
Remember The Milk supports an unlimited number of notes per task, while BlackBerry's built-in Tasks application supports only one note. To handle this difference, MilkSync will place multiple notes from RTM into one note field on the BlackBerry, but separate the notes with a special syntax (so they can be synchronized back to RTM as multiple notes). Each note will look like:
[note #abc123] This is a note. [end note]
If your task already has notes synchronized from Remember The Milk, you can add a new note by entering text before or after the existing notes (anything outside of the square brackets will be handled as a new note). You can add multiple new notes by separating them with three hyphens on a line ("---"):
This is the first note. --- This is the second note.
6. How does task deletion work with synchronization?
Be very careful deleting tasks. Please remember that if you delete tasks on your BlackBerry and then synchronize with Remember The Milk, the tasks you deleted on your device will also be permanently deleted from your RTM account (and vice versa).
7. How do I choose which Remember The Milk lists to sync with the device?
To set your sync preferences, go to the Settings screen, and then click on the Sync tab.

If you choose to synchronize specific lists only, next click on the Lists tab. Click on a list to change its sync setting, then click Add next to the sync details.

1. I experienced a problem with the tasks on my BlackBerry, and need to reset MilkSync for BlackBerry.
You can use the "Reset Sync" option to delete all tasks stored on your BlackBerry and replace them with a fresh copy of the tasks in your Remember The Milk account. This option provides an easy way to recover from synchronization issues. To use this option:
