Your iCalendar service for a list will only be accessible by others if you choose to publish that list.
If you publish a list for a contact, then that contact will be able to subscribe to the iCalendar service for that list. Likewise, if you publish a list for the public, then anyone will be able to subscribe to the iCalendar service for that list.
