Problem with sleeper tags.
mehardin says:
Based on the sleeper tag blog post, I've created a list with the following search criteria.
(tag:zzz AND dueAfter:now)
OR (tag:z1d AND dueAfter:”1 day of now”)
OR (tag:z2d AND dueAfter:”2 days of now”)
OR (tag:z3d AND dueAfter:”3 days of now”)
OR (tag:z4d AND dueAfter:”4 days of now”)
OR (tag:z5d AND dueAfter:”5 days of now”)
OR (tag:z6d AND dueAfter:”6 days of now”)
OR (tag:z1w AND dueAfter:”1 week of now”)
OR (tag:z2w AND dueAfter:”2 weeks of now”)
OR (tag:z3w AND dueAfter:”3 weeks of now”)
OR (tag:z1m AND dueAfter:”1 month of now”)
OR (tag:z2m AND dueAfter:”2 months of now”)
OR (tag:z3m AND dueAfter:”3 months of now”)
OR (tag:z4m AND dueAfter:”4 months of now”)
OR (tag:z5m AND dueAfter:”5 months of now”)
OR (tag:z6m AND dueAfter:”6 months of now”)
OR (tag:z7m AND dueAfter:”7 months of now”)
OR (tag:z8m AND dueAfter:”8 months of now”)
OR (tag:z9m AND dueAfter:”9 months of now”)
OR (tag:z10m AND dueAfter:”10 months of now”)
OR (tag:z11m AND dueAfter:”11 months of now”)
OR (tag:z1y AND dueAfter:"1 year of now")
I've gone through my tasks and tagged several with different tags found in this search criteria, however, only those tagged with "zzz" are found in the search. Any ideas what the problem could be?

Wrong type of " causes this. Try this search:
(tag:zzz AND dueAfter:now)
OR (tag:z1d AND dueAfter:"1 day of now")
OR (tag:z2d AND dueAfter:"2 days of now")
OR (tag:z3d AND dueAfter:"3 days of now")

Thanks. I copied and pasted from the blog for mine. When I typed the whole thing out manually it worked fine.

Interesting. Didn't know there were different types of quotes. I only have one kind on my computer. How do you get the other kind? Does this mean that these tags have to be hand typed to work?

Do you mean ANSI or ASCII?

Not questioning your recommendation, only the standard on which you based it. :) I'm a stickler for details (read engineer) and an unaware of any ANSI standard for computer characters. ASCII has had this standard since stone tablets were around!
Thanks for clarifying what the problem was. I'm thinking about implementing this kind of system myself.

I'm loving it since I got it working. My smart lists aren't cluttered with lots of task that are low priority or even worse, impossible to work on at this time. The previous solution to that was to have (not dueAfter:"2 weeks of now") as a part of the search criteria. But this includes a lot of items I don't need to see until a day or two before they are due, and may not include an item that I could do early if I had extra time.
This lets me select the hide time on a task by task basis. Much more powerful.

I agree completely. I use "Things" on my Mac at home, and it has this capability built in. Years ago, I had a programmable PIM, and one of the things I programmed in was a starting date for my todos to achieve the same thing. It's one of the things I'd strongly urge the developers of RTM to work on.
When things lighten up a bit here at work, I'll add it to RTM. Thanks for the help.
