The help page for "RTM on Gmail Labs" mentions the URL for the gadget as http://www.rememberthemilk.com/services/modules/gmail/rtm.xml

This URL will not get added (and you will see an error msg) if you are using Gmail using htttps. To make the gadget work, just change the RTM gadget url to also use https and the gadget will get added fine.
