If you'd like to put RememberTheMilk in a side bar or floating window you can do it with this trick (THIS CAUSES PROBLEMS IF YOU HAVE GOOGLE DESKTOP):
Right-click your taskbar
Goto Toolbars
Select "New Toolbar"
Put: http://www.rememberthemilk.com/services/modules/googleig/
where it says folder.
Click OK.
Next, drag the new toolbar either to the side bar or just let it float. You can let it stay on top if you want quick access.
Hope this helps.

says:I have the toolbar, but I do not seem to be able to 'undock' it from the taskbar. Every time I drag it off of the taskbar, it vanishes. Is that a idiot user issue, or am I missing something obvious? Thanks.

Which version of windows are you using? It drags off just fine in WinXP.
Also a note for my previous post: The windows toolbar seems to play nice with google desktop if you close out of google desktop completely first (as well as kill off all processes associated with it). Set the toolbar up how you want it then reopen google desktop.

I'm running vista and when I try to include the url above in the folder field, it says it's not a valid folder name...

You could also use Prism(http://labs.mozilla.com/2007/10/prism/) to create a floating window with the widget

says:Philone, it was google desktop that messed me up - one of the faceless background threads was still running.
b.engelenburg, I had set up the whole RTM site in Prism, but I didn't think to do it for just the widget - it works well, and I will give it a spin, thank you.

I get the same error as iwallach in Vista. Bummer.

prism doesn't allow you to go offline because it does not support Google Gears.

Is it working on Vista? I followed instructions from the first post and all I can see is an error message: The folder name is not valid.

Hi I am new to remember the milk. I've been lookin to do this. Can somebody explain me where do I find the taskbar? Thanks
Posted at 5:16am on July 21, 2008
says:@joanie.nieves - taskbar is the propoer name for the bar that (by default) runs along the bottom edge of the screen in windows - where all the apps have buttons for you to switch between them.

If you closedown OOTD first and then move your RTM toolbar it works. You can then restart OOTD and all is hunky dory :^)

That worked great until two days ago, using my workplace's old Internet Explorer 6. Now I get a really strange error:
Internet Explorer script error
Line: 10
Char: 314 /in case this helps someone to locate the error
Error: Permission denied
Code: 0
URL: http://www.google.com/ig/ifpc_relay
What does google ig have to do with this? I thought the page came direcly from RTM?
Any ideas on how to fix this? I've emtied the cache and deleted the cookies, but to no effect.

This is great, but I would love to have two different lists on two different computers (work at work and home at home)... with this tool, the same list is displayed on either. Is it possible to change that?

says:dan.julian:
You just unlock the taskbar, and drag te toolbar you want to use as a sidebar to the side of your screen. It automatically docks there.

thanks this is great, I've been trying all sorts of desktop apps but who knew it was this easy.
The https:// suggestion fixes the issue with ie script issue thanks!
When I drag it off the unlocked taskbar it always disappears the first time I do, but the second time I do it for some reason it works! Worth persevering

I was unable to get this to work on PC running XP pro using the instructions of the original post. While I was able to create the new taskbar it showed a message that RTM page not found.
I have begun to play with this other tip which shows RTM in the side bar of Firefox http://www.rememberthemilk.com/forums/tips/2951/
If someone is familiar with both of these approaches, could you explain clearly what the pros/cons of each might be? At least for me, when I am on the computer I am always connected to internet so unless there are real advantages to the taskbar approach, I probably will stick with the Firefox sidebar. Thanks for any thoughts/advice.
