So far, this is great. I think I will use this as my main interface. I can click on any item and it takes me straight to the List, so I can easily access anything I need to. Also, the Add task data entry is much better using the igoogle gadget (in the sidebar) than the standard RTM task data entry.

Oh yeah, this is great.

I put the google calendar module right underneath the RTM one so that I've got a complete view of tasks and daily agenda together on demand within the browser.

I gotta admit I never got into the igoogle module or this trick because I though it was exclusively for due-based systems (mine is context/next actions based).

Today, though, I got curious about what the Settings link was for, and discovered I can load any smartlist's due-never tasks. Really great. It's also very easy to switch the list on display.

I pumped it to max width and made it accessible through the bookmarks toolbar, so I open it to check on the action I'll be doing and close it to actually do. As paul said, if I need more info on the task (tags, notes) I can simply click it and the RTM website loads up.

Totally incredibly awesome tip, Jonh, wish I had checked it out earlier. This is my RTM task viewer from now on, no doubt.

Adding my 2cents to the tip...

I've created this little bookmarklet (based on another hack) which creates a chromeless window with the RTM igoogle module embedded:

Just drag the link to your bookmarks and try it out. I only use Firefox so your mileage may vary on other browsers

If you are using Flock this isn't as easy as you don't have the option to add to sidebar. So I had to create a new page mimicking the sidebar then add the javascript from this page: http://tmml.sourceforge.net/sidebar.html

That worked in the end.

I'm not sure how kent.moffat did it above but i put the gcalendar widget along with the RTM one in my sidebar and cant' live without it. it seems to work better than using the igoogle sidebar extension.

I'm sure there's a better way, but to do this yourself,
just put the text in the link below in your own webpage (could be a local file), and instruct firefox to open it in the sidebar. I don't want to post mine because I'm afraid you'll bring the server down...

This is a handy tip that a lot of people would like. I think if you showed a screenshot of this to Gina over at Lifehacker that she might even make a post out of it. A lot of people want this sort of unified dashboard.

Excellent tip, thanks! I especially like how I can change the Settings to point to a smart list will all work items on my work computer, or a smart list with all home items on my home computer, and still retain the days of the week breakdown.

I needed a way to simply Add Tasks quickly while working in FF. I followed the steps in the first post, but for the location, I used http://m.rememberthemilk.com/add

Noobie here, so not up to speed on a lot of this.

Curious about what you've done here. This procedure puts RTM in the FF sidebar? Can you also see your bookmarks there, or do you have to access them thru the menus?

I don't get the pic in the original post of the iPhone. Doesn't look like FF or a sidebar at all. So what is it? All I can see is a list of dates and some characters next to them, but I don't see a task list, which is what I'd want to see. What are the codes next to the dates?
