Be acquired by Google :)

Well, It would certainly help solve integration problems with Gmail/Gcal/Gtasks, et cetera. I'm guessing that Google will eventually either acquire you or try to replace you with in-house upgrades to Google Tasks. Since your code base is already using Google Gears, it seems sensible to me that RTM should at least establish channels of communication with Google Ventures about the concept (if they haven't done so already). Talking to MS/Bing might also be a good idea, if only to have an alternative available.
If you'd rather keep a tight focus on a single product which ties into other products via standard interfaces, then more power to you, but you'll probably have to develop improved open-standard interfaces to pull it off. Whatever path you take, good luck to you. I've only used the product for one day so far, and it's already been very helpful. If you supported subtasks and shared project templates, I'd probably be on the pro list already. Thanks for writing some great code.
