Pressing 'n' shouldn't clear the select bar

I am trying to use this sans mouse. I am going through my list trying to prioritize each item.
I checkmark an item with 'i'
Then I press '1', '2', or '3'
Then I move down to the next item.
Then I press 'n' to clear all checkmarks.
At this point the yellow select bar disappears and I have to press 'j' repeatedly to get back to the next item on the list.

As a bonus, if you use 'j' and 'k' to move up and down on a long list, the page will now automatically scroll if the select bar moves off the page.
