No alert with "send to " tasks ?

Wife and I have accounts and sharing.
If she creates a task from her account and does "send to" my lists -- the task goes over there like we want.
HOWEVER, once it is on my list, my alerts do not work with it --we want it to send message to cell phone (like tasks I create from my account).
Is this normal ? Any way for alerts to work on "send to" tasks ? Thanks !
