Kurt, sorry I'm not familiar with the Skype Extension -- I'm not sure if it supports linking phone numbers in RTM (you might try contacting the developer of the extension if it doesn't work correctly).
I remember a user posting previously about a Skype toolbar that does something similar, and I think they said it worked with RTM -- have you tried this? Perhaps someone else here might be more familiar with Skype extensions/toolbars -- sorry I can't be of more help!
