Hey, RTM team hasn't picked this one up so I built it as a MilkScript — no installation needed, runs natively in RTM.

Adds ⚠️ to overdue task names, one per day late (up to 5). Cleans up automatically if you postpone or change the due date (still need to run the script or get some tools to automate). Want to test on a few tasks before running on everything or limit the scope? Tag them with sync-preview and the script will scope itself to those only — remove the tag when you're ready to go full.

I did some smoke test and seems to be working fine. However it would be nice to run some more tests.
So if you want to test it or limit the scope of the script add tag sync-preview to the parent task(s) that you want to process. More info in readme on github.

Number of times it's been postponed doesn't get copied over. It's just that the browser is caching this.
Try creating a test task, postpone it like 3 times, see the #.
Then duplicate, check #.
Try Ctrl+F5 to refresh with cache reload, # is gone on duplicated task.

For a workaround I'd probably go with modifying smart list. I do have similar tasks like you, but I don't use Start date at all. If that would work for you, then the trick is that you need to make way to distinct the invoice due in 4 days from something that is due "after" 4 days.
This could be a tag or any condition. If you don't care about start date at all (assuming it works with due date in the way you want) you could even filter tasks dat have start date set.
Or the hard way
Could be done in easier way with MilkScript (easier to use, not design).

Looks like GPT also has this capability. It works fine with Claude. Just note that sometimes it has some difficulties with knowing what tools to use.
For example in API if you want to set location on a task you should use rtm.tasks.setLocation but in MCP it's rtm_assign_location

Not a bug here. I mean, this probably could be addressed in the code, but it's not RTM problem, it's browser thing.
Looks like the # of postpones gets cached in the browser.

Create a dummy task, set recurrence, postpone couple times, you will see # when you click the "i" icon.
Complete it, new task will get created. Check "i" again, # did not reset. Close the popup and reload page with Ctrl+F5, check again, counter resets.

I did some testing. After each step you can export your data and track the tasks in JSON file (remember that there's going to be more than one as it shows completed too!).

I guess in the way it is designed, subtask is a separate entity, just with link to parent. So it's not about displaying the earliest due date, it's about copying the due date to parent task.
That sounds like automation, so answer would be MilkScript. I think I can make something.
Then either you could run it once a while or use some external services like IFTTT, Zapier, Claude Code etc. to run it in more automated fashion.

I have a lot of task with subtasks. I give the subtasks due dates, but no due date to the parent task - as this is changing every time i complete a subtask and I don't want to change it manually all the time..
In my lists I would like to see the parent task at the due date of the subtask with the earliest subtask
