Add task in smart list -- act like a template
rickypc says:
Here's a suggestion.
Let's say I have a smart list that shows all tasks tagged with 'PRINT'. Then composing a task when in the smart list should create it with the smart task parameters -- i.e tag the task automatically with 'PRINT'.
I am a consultant and work with various companies. So, this approach can be very useful as I create smart lists with different company names. Now, when I work with a particular company and am looking at the company's smart list -- creating a new task can be easier with TEMPLATE action in smart lists.
Thanks for a great product!

This is exactly the request I logged in just now to add. I am really liking RTM after just a couple of days using it, but this feature would make using it a lot easier.
This would be great; I am daily frustrated by the inability to add tasks while in a smart list view.
Back in February, Chad suggested a very similar idea (http://www.rememberthemilk.com/forums/ideas/621/), and Emily pointed out that a task needs to live in an actual list (and not a smart list).
It seems to me that a task added in a smart list could either get dumped in the default list or the inbox, and that would handle that issue.

Me too
I would be OK with new tasks going to the inbox if it was created at a smart-list page, like ranbarton says.

Assigning the new task to INBOX might be workable. However, there can be other ways to make the experience better:
* If the smart list is used like a filter, where all the tasks are from the same list --> then extending the TEMPLATE approach, the task can be assigned to the common list.
* After the task is created, a small layer pop-up can appear (like how it appears in DIGG when you try to digg an article and are not yet logged in). This layer pop-up can contain names of all the actual lists. The user can then attach the task to a given list with just one click.
In any case, even if the most simplistic approach of assigning the tasks to INBOX is done, this feature will still be very useful.

(and for goodness sakes, is any one working on a desktop plugin for offline access to RTM? Its been ages since the API has been out!!)

i also would like to be able to add tasks from a smart list view. as it is, i use my 'add to rtm' button, but it would be smoother to be able to use the 't' shortcut and add a task which would be assigned the relevant filter features automatically.
