Fail a task

james.bunt says:
I think it would be really useful to be able to fail a task as opposed to completing it. There are some tasks that can't be postponed or say happen on a daily basis that if you don't get around to doing them when they're due need to either be completed or deleted to get them off your list. However I'd like to then be able to create a smart list for my weekly review and see what tasks I failed to complete so that I can learn from those failures and better plan how to get them done in the future. I realize this can be done with tagging but find that a little clunky. This seems like a natural state for a task (either available to do, done, or failed) and I feel it would be a valuable addition to the interface.

I like that too. In fact it's uppermost in my mind just now, doing NaNoWriMo with a word count goal each day. I;ve got that in as a repeating task. I either complete that, or I fail it. I can't postpone it till tomorrow (though I could maybe catch up tomorrow, that's not really the same as postponing. Then I'd end up two uses of the same task on my list for tomorrow.) I don't want to delete the task from that day. Some kind of "failed" or "didn't do" option would be great,

This idea is considered similar to "Ability to 'fail' a task", and all votes have been transferred to that idea.
